Nothing beats these homemade fried donuts. The interior is fluffy, soft, and light, while the exterior is a slightly crispy barrier coated in the most flavorful chocolate glaze ever. Everyone I know loves the fluffy, melt in your mouth interior. The donuts do not soak up too much oil, and are coated in a smooth and shiny glaze. What are you waiting for? You’ve got to try these tasty donuts!
These Doughnuts are:
- Fluffy and Soft
- Lightly browned
- Flavorful
- Coated in shiny glaze
- Has a sweet and chocolatey glaze
- Does not require much effort
- Uses simple
The dough:
This dough is relatively easy to make, and uses some very straight forward ingredients.
The dough comes together very quickly using flour, sugar, salt, an egg, milk, butter, and instant yeast. The dough should be very soft, and comes out very fluffy. The dough also comes together within 20 minutes, and rises quickly.
Cutting the Donuts:
To cut the doughnuts, simply roll the dough to about 1/2 an inch thick, and cut using a cookie cutter or choice. To make the hole in the dough, use a smaller cookie cutter. When you need to re-roll the dough make sure to let the dough rest a bit.
After cutting the doughnuts and the holes, let them rest for 30 minutes before frying.
The Glaze:
Who doesn’t love Nutella? I know that we all do 😉
This easy and delicious glaze combines Nutella, cocoa, milk, and some coconut oil (optional). The glaze is sweet and flavorful, and super decadent. This glaze beats the one that covers the donuts at your local bakery; it has the same shine, the chocolatey flavor, and the silky texture. The best part is that it comes together in minutes!
Frying the Donuts:
I recommend working with oil that is around 320F or 160C. If you do not have a thermometer, you can easily toss in a piece of bread, and cook it until it is golden. I recommend frying in canola oil, Mazola oil, and sunflower oil. Fry it on each side until it is a golden brown. I know that the first donut might be burnt or undercooked, so make sure to lightly increase the heat and wait a few moments.
