Top this peach cobbler with ice cream, serve it warm, and dig in!

I’ve shared another Peach Cobbler recipe before, but this new recipe takes it to a whole other level! I can’t say I don’t love the previous recipe, but there is something about this new, classic, sweet, flakey, crumbly cobbler that makes me fall head of heels!

What is Peach Cobbler

Peach cobbler is similar to a pie with no crust! You can typically find a sweet fruit compote as the base with bakes biscuit on the top. The best Peach cobblers typically have:

  • Sweet yet tart syrup
  • Peaches that are soft, but not flimsy or hard
  • Corn starch that thickens the syrup
  • A flakey, crumbly, and soft biscuit
  • Not too crisp, nor undercooked
  • A flavorful sauce
  • A butter biscuit

Pre-baking the Peaches

Guess what?! This recipe does not require any pre-baking! Many recipes only call for pre-baking your peach mixture to prevent it from remaining hard. After trying this recipe a few times, I have determined that it is absolutely not necessary to pre-bake, as if you lay out the dough with a few old fashioned gaps, it can help lightly steam the peaches!

Topping

For this recipe, the type of peach cobbler topping is biscuit. With the different methods I have tried peach cobblers, I have mostly enjoyed the biscuit topping, as it is buttery, flakey, flavorful, crunchy yet soft, and lightly crumbly! It sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

PS. This delicious dough is made from very simple ingredients that you probably have at home!

As you lay out the dough you should not worry about perfection. You can simple pinch it, plop it, or lay it down. Be sure to leave a few gaps for the peaches to show. I love how effortlessly delicious this vintage, classic, and old fashioned cobbler looks (it tastes 100x better than it looks)
