What makes this banana bread healthy?
Not only does this recipe have a reduced and substituted amount of sugar, but also replaces the butter with a small amount of oil (or apple sauce. You can also use whole wheat flour. The honey makes this banana bread moist and sweet (without all that suga’)
This banana recipe actually won’t send your sugar t the stars! yet no one will ever be able to tell that this is a “healthy” banana bread recipe.
Flour:
You can substitute the flour for one of the following:
- oat flour
- whole wheat flour
- Gluten free flour
- white flour
Please avoid using any cake flour in this recipe.

Healthy Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 medium ripe bananas
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extracts
- 1 and 3/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350F or 175C and grease a bundt pan (or a loaf pan)
- Begin by mashing your bananas. To your bananas, add your eggs and vanilla and lemon juice. Beat for 1 minute. Add in your canola oil, honey and sugar. Beat for another minute.
- In a seperate bowl, combine your flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Sift.
- Alternate adding your dries and milk into the dry ingredients. Fold until fully combined.
- Add your walnuts (fold them in). Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a tooth pick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool and enjoy!
